Free2Frag is a website I created for the niche market of free-to-play (F2P) shooters on PC. The website provides news, reviews and a games catalogue with player numbers and stream viewer figures fetched from Steam and Twitch via API.

A custom built Content Management System (CMS) is used for creating posts, adding games, media and more.

In 2007, I saw many F2P PC games originally made for the South Korean market being  released in the west as an “international” version. Although the business model was not highly regarded at the time, I saw the potential and expected “free to play” to mature and grow in the west. I purchased the domain in 2009 and made my first attempt at creating and running a website.

I decided to relaunch the project in 2019 for a few reasons. I still had an interest in the free to play market. I also enjoyed the challenge of Search Engine Optimisation and chasing the top spot on Google search results. Finally, I wanted a project which I could expand my skills with CodeIgniter, MVC and utilising APIs.
